Coldplay is taking the world by storm with the release of their new single, "A Sky Full of Stars". After starting at #17 on last week's CDS Music Chart Hot 100 (just after 3 days of availability in the United States), the Avicii produced dance hit is already zooming up the chart. As of the midweek numbers, it looks like the track could barely finish within the top 10 this week.
That's a major improvement from the group's 1st charting single, "Magic" which peaked at #18. Fortunately, "Magic" bounced 24-19 on last week's chart, making it highly likely that the track will reach a new peak eventually. The group's 1st promotional single from their new album Ghost Stories, "Midnight", has been making smaller waves, reaching as high as #54 on the extended (and unpublished chart) as of last week. It might be able reach the Hot 50 this week, though a position above #40 seems unlikely.
Meanwhile, Sanna Nielsen's "Undo" has roared into the top 10 after barely missing inclusion on last week's Hot 50 (reached #56 last week). This massive gain comes following the performance of the track during Tuesday's first Eurovision semi final. As the track moved on to compete with 25 other tracks in the final round, it moved to #1 on the odds list to win this year's competition. "Undo", the Swedish entry, roared onto the Hot 50 following its qualification and even ranked #1 on the building tally at one point, though that lead has somewhat diminished. It currently hovers at #8. It should open right outside the top 10 this week. If it ends up winning on Saturday during the grand final, a top 5 finish is likely next week (Saturday marks the start of the tracking week).
Usher's "Good Kisser" will likely fail to be included on the Hot 50 this week, as the track posts underwhelming numbers through mid week (Wednesday). It will be lucky to finish within the top 75. Interestingly enough, the track hasn't fared well with major audiences either. It peaked at #48 on the US iTunes and is currently sitting at #70. It should be out of the top 100 by next week.
