Chart Highlights: Coldplay, OneRepublic Reach Top 10

Kiesza's breakout hit, "Hideaway", holds at #1 for a second consecutive week. Just last week, "Hideaway" became only the 9th track in history to open in the #1 position. More amazingly, Kiesza became the first ever artist to launch at #1 with their debut single. Tallying a final weekly total of 110 chart points, "Hideaway" is the first non-Lady Gaga song to tally over 100 points in its first two frames. This week, "Hideaway" posted a 4% decrease in points from the amount of points it scored last week. Additionally, "Hideaway" zooms 24-7 on the Voter's Top 40 with a 29% approval rating. That's a 14% increase over last week's approval rate. Overall, 155 voters cast over 2,400 votes to determine the "Best Songs of the Week" among CDS Music Chart twitter followers and users. Kiesza also holds at #1 on the Dance and Streaming component charts for a second consecutive frame.

Colplay's "A Sky Full of Stars" blasts 17-2 on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50, as the Airplay Gainer of the week. It jumps 70% in week to week points, elevating from 60 to 102. That's one of the largest totals for any song not in the #1 position. "Stars" moves 25-20 on the Voter's Top 40 with a 19% approval rating, as well as moving 10-2 on the Dance component chart and elevating to #1 on the Pop chart. Additionally, it becomes Coldplay's best performing track to date, beating "Magic", which moves 19-15 (a new peak).

Lorde's former 3 week #1 "Team" drops 2-3 on the tally due to the rise of Coldplay's latest track. This week it drops to 95 plays (-2), a fairly strong hold that would have almost gaurenteed the track a week at the summit (if Coldplay hadn't impacted the top 10 this week and Kiesza had dropped like most strong debuts do). As noted multiple times, Lorde's "Royals" (her first top 10 single/entry) previously peaked at #8 on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50. It's also worth noting that "Team" topped the list in its 20th week on the chart. That would have tied for "Longest Climb to #1" if this event had happened back in 2013 (with Ellie Goulding's "Figure 8"), but OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" recently completed a 24 week journey to the top slot just a few weeks ago. Follow up single , "Glory and Gore" elevates 52-51 on the extender chart, barely misssing inclusion in this week's top 50. "Team" ranks at #9 on the Voter's Top 40, a four position gain.

Disclosure's breakout hit "Latch (feat. Sam Smith)" holds at #4 on the tally. This week it stays even at 94 spins. In the week prior, it jumped over 2%. The week before that it jumped approximately 12%. During this frame, it looked like the track could have been close to reaching #1, but that dream never came to fruition. It has jumped in total points for the past 7 consecutive frames, indicating that it wont be slowing down anytime soon. "Latch" ranks at #32 on the Voter's Top 40, a 5 position dip from last week.

John Legend's "All Of Me" bounds 6-5 on this week's tally, to a brand new peak in week #12. It gains heavily due to the large boost it saw in terms of radio airplay in the United States. Additionally, it benefits from the growth of its Tiësto Birthday Treatment Remix at US radio, and its inclusion on the CDS Music Chart playlist for the third week (previously only spins stemming from the original version of the song were counted toward the song's overall chart position). At this point, the track should be able to worm itself into at least the top 3 by the end of its run. "All of Me" ranks at #17 on the Voter's Top 40 this week, a 3 position drop from last week.

Katy Perry's "Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)" dives 3-6 on this week's chart. It previously spent three straight frames at #2. One month ago, the track completed the second longest run to a peak position in my chart's history. Recently Krewella's "Live For the Night" took 32 weeks to reach it's peak position of #9 just over 2 months ago. It recently exited the Hot 50 just 2 months after reaching #9 (week #40). If "Horse" ever reaches #1, it will set the record for the longest climb to a peak, as well as set a new record for longest climb to #1. "Horse" slides 4-18 on the Voter's Top 40, contributing to it's large drop this week.

Lady Gaga's "G.U.Y." slides 5-7 on this week's chart. It previously reached a new peak in week #14 (the track is currently in week #17). The track is Lady Gaga's 5th top 5 single to date. "Applause", "Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly)" and "Venus" all peaked at #1, and "Mary Jane Holland" peaked at #3. Additionally, Gaga's other top 10s include: "MANiCURE" which peaked at #7 , "Sexxx Dreams" which reached #8 and "Aura" which previously stopped at #10. That's the most top 10 entries from the same album in history. "G.U.Y" ranks at #2 on the Voter's Top 40 with a 54% approval rating, a 21% spike alongside a 3 position gain. Additionally, "PARTYNAUSEOUS", Lady Gaga's latest track, opens at #48 on the chart while debuting in the #1 position on the Voter's Top 40 with a 62% approval rating.

OneRepublic's "Love Runs Out" elevates 11-8. If it has a similar pattern to the chart run of "Counting Stars", OneRepublic might become the first band to spend over 30 consecutive weeks with a least one song in the top 10. It dips 24-26 on the Voter's Top 40, though gaining in terms of acceptance rates.

Shakira's "Empire" dips 7-9 this week. It recently spent a 4th and final non-consecutive week at #1. To date the track has spent 10 weeks within the top 5. It has collected about 540 points to date, suggesting that the track will end it's run with over 800 points in the bank. That should be a solid improvement over the final numbers for "Can't Remember to Forget You" (the singer's previous single) which started out strong but collapsed somewhat quickly. The latter track only spent 2 weeks within the top 3 (both at #3).

OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" slides to its lowest position since the end of October 2013 by dropping 8-10. It had an incredible streak of 11 non-consecutive weeks at #2 and 2 consecutive weeks at #1. The track previously spent 20 straight weeks in the top 5, and logs a 25th consecutive week in the top 10 during this frame. That's the longest run since Lady Gaga's 11 week leader "Applause" logged 26 consecutive weeks (1/2 a year) in the top 10 starting with the chart dated August 22nd (its debut week). "Applause" spent 23 of those 26 weeks in the top 5 and 19 of those in the top 3 (16 in the top 2). "Stars" on the other hand has spent 25 weeks in the top 10 (so far), 20 in the top 5, 15 in the top 3 and 13 in the top 2. At the rate it is dropping, it should close it's top 10 run with 25 weeks in the region, just short of tying the record.

Come back for the chart!
