CDS Picks: Mariah Carey, Sanna Nielsen & More

Welcome to yet another installment in the wildly popular CDS Picks category! This time around I'm focusing on the returns of Sanna Nielsen, Samantha Jade, Mariah Carey and more.  Have your picks for this week's best new tracks? Just tweet me them and I'll give 'em a spin!

Samantha Jade - "UP!"
After a slew of marginal performers in her home Australia ("Firestarter", "Solider" and "I Am Australian"), Samantha Jade is back with perhaps her best single to date. "UP!" follows her pattern of dance oriented singles, but something is different this time. She's finally ditching the Selena Gomez style that we had heard before, for a more mature sound that seems to appeal to a more normal demographic. Sure it might not actually chart on CDS Music Chart Hot 50, but it's definitely getting her closer.

Mariah Carey - "Thirsty"
Following the commercial failures of "The Art of Letting Go" and "You're Mine (Eternal)" - save for its success on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50 -, Mariah Carey returns to the music scene with "Thirsty",  a bubbly new hip-hop inspired track. Since the promotion for her new album, Me. I Am Mariah (The Elusive Chanteuse), has hit a few snags, Mariah has tried on numerous occasions to rekindle some interest in the long delayed project. Now, just 2 weeks before its release, she's unveiled this new track, which in itself might be the best Mariah release in over 5 years. Yes, "Thirsty" is easily one of 2014's most promising releases, fitting into the hip-hop, dance and pop genres quite nicely.

Sanna Nielsen - "Undo"
Though she didn't quite win the 2014 installment of the Eurovision Song Contest, Sanna Nielsen still came in a strong 3rd place with her emotional power ballad "Undo". The 3 minute long pop production is one of the strongest entries in the Eurovision Song Contest I have seen in several years, and it is one of best Scandinavian pop tracks I've heard it quite a while.

Coldplay - "Another's Arms"
With the leak of Ghost Stories online this week, along came another outstanding Coldplay track that could be a future single. "Another's Arms" is easily one of the top tracks from the new Coldplay release, and at this point looks like one of most likely candidates to become the album's 3rd official single. It's sure to make a large impact on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50 within the next few months, and is likely to out peak lead single "Magic" (which has reached #18 thus far).

Come back for chart highlights and more posts!
