Forecast: "Applause" Headed Back to #1
After a three week vacancy from the penthouse, former 10 week topper "Applause" is headed back to the top of the list for a record extending 11th week atop the list. It would replace 2 week #1 runner "Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly)" also by Lady Gaga. If it does manage to return to #1 for an 11th week, it would extend Lady Gaga's 13 week at #1 stretch to 14 weeks. If it does end up playing out this way, the song's overall performance predictions could skyrocket due to the fact that the song has preformed consistently for nearly 4 months. Through its 14th week, it would rack 697 points. That is a massive total and at this point the song could soar past 1400 points by the end of its run. To accomplish that quickly, it would need to spend the next 14 weeks in the top 3. This is likely impossible, but another way is longetivity. The song could easily spend upwards of 40 weeks on the chart. To sail past 1400, it would need to rank #24 or higher every week until May 15th, 2014. Highly unlikely. Yet if it stays in the top 5 until the early part of 2014, it could still pass this barrier. It will likely be #1 again this week, and easily beat all the competition.
