Chart Highlights: Same #1, Tulisa Makes History

Swedish House Mafia locks in a fifth week at #1 with "Don't You Worry Child (feat. John Martin)". The song also currently ranks as the #1 song of 2013, due to this being the first chart week of January 2013.

Calvin Harris remains #2 with "Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch)" for a fifth frame. The single is still growing strong, as it is just 8% lower in overall airplay that the current #1.

"Diamonds (Shahaf Moran Remix)" sits at #3 during its 14th week. Spending 14 frames in the Top 5, it is just 6 weeks under the record set by Rihanna's own "Where Have You Been" (20 weeks).

Christina Aguilera rises 5-4 with "Let There Be Love". The single follows her chart topping hit "Your Body" which spent 2 weeks at #1 in September/October.

Although down 4-5 "Right Now (feat. David Guetta)" is up 9% in airplay, and was barely edged out by Christina's "Let There Be Love". The song is likely to return upwards within the coming weeks.

Vita Chambers rises 8-6 with "Fix You". The single is down less than 1% in airplay, but still manages a somewhat major move.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis bound 9-7 with "Thrift Shop (feat. Wanz)" courtesy of a 18% gain in airplay.

After one week of absence Tulisa re-enters at #8 with "Young (Gregor Salto Remix)" after peaking at #9 during its original 9 week run. This movement marks the highest re-entry of any song on the CDS Music Chart in all time history.

"Locked Out Of Heaven" dips 6-9 due to an array of new singles charting, and airplay being down 14%.

Ivi Adamou rounds it out as "La La Love" spikes 12-10 to reach the Top 10. It becomes the second Eurovision song to do so after Loreen's "Euphoria" debuted and held at #1 for 3 weeks.

Ke$ha returns to the edge of the Top 10 as she rebounds 14-11 with second single "C'mon". The single is 2 position short of its previous peak and 3 from a new peak.

Ke$ha Set to Storm Top 40

After three consecutive top 10 singles, Ke$ha is ready to storm the top 40 again with tracks from her new album Warrior. Not all of the songs listed are guaranteed a Top 40 slot, but have a good chance. The list below shows an approximate number for each song that might chart, however the positions could shuffle before being finalized on Friday.

Chart Highlights: Swedish House Mafia On Top, Macklemore and Others Debut

Swedish House Mafia sits at the top for a 4th consecutive week with "Don't You Worry Child (feat. John Martin)".

"Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch)" sits at #2 for a 4th consecutive week, although up a little. It currently is the second biggest hit from Calvin Harris behind hid collaboration with Rihanna earlier this year.

Rihanna's "Diamonds (Shahaf Moran Radio)" rebounds 4-3  as her equally addictive "Right Now (feat. David Guetta)" retreats 3-4.

At #5 we find Christina Aguilera's second top 5 hit "Let There be Love". The single rises from #6 after struggling for a few weeks.

Bruno Mars dips 5-6 with "Locked Out of Heaven". He also dips 7-10 with follow up single "Young Girls".

Little Mix's "DNA" rises 8-7 despite dropping in airplay points.

Vita Chambers flies 10-8 with her massive airplay hit "Fix You". The single is up 15% in airplay from last week, but still doesn't manage to pass Little Mix's "DNA".

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis score the HOT SHOT DEBUT with 5th and final single "Thrift Shop (feat. Wanz)". The single is up a massive 83% percent in total airplay.

As previously reported Bruno Mars dips 7-10 with "Young Girls" after a -23% decrease in airplay. The single failed to reach the top 5 (but not the top 10) and is not likely to hold on much longer.

Other debuts include Kelly Clarkson's "People Like Us" at #29 and Ivi Adamou's "La La Love" at # 12.

How It Works: CDS Airplay Chart

This post will help you better understand how the CDS Airplay Chart works with the CDS Top 40 Chart.

For example let us take the days December 1st, 2012 - December 7th, 2012. These are the days that airplay points are counted. The airplay chart changes every time a song is played, and therefore a song that debuts at #39 on December 1st, 2012 (for example) wouldn't be guaranteed a slot on the final chart.  The final chart for this week would then become the December 13th official chart, however the chart is published a few days prior and the tracking ended the previous friday.

On the Rise: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Despite not reaching the chart for the week of December 20th, 2012, "Thrift Shop (feat. Wanz)" is set for a monster debut on the week of December 27th, 2012. The Ryan Lewis produced single debuted on the airplay chart at number 39 on December 6th, 2012 but did not rack enough points to make the Top 40 for the issue dated December 13th. It missed the Top 40 by a smaller margin this time, but is set to make a major jump with continuing airplay. In fact, the single has boosted 39% in total airplay since2 days ago. For those of you totally confused by the airplay chart and how it changes the Top 40, an informational post will be coming soon!
