CDS Picks will let you know about fresh new artists, hot new music and great picks that are worth a listen.
Caroline Brooks "Parachute"
This fresh new song from up and coming new artist Caroline Brooks highlights her real life story in a catchy and fun yet clever way. This one is a true gem that hits you just right. An inspirational song that is really moving. Once you listen once you are hooked. "Parachute" is an anthem that will not be forgotten. Also check her out on twitter (@carolinebrooks7) for tour updates, and new music information! One of the best new artists. You can listen to "Parachute" below.
Mariah Carey "The Art of Letting Go"
After escaping the public eyes for a few years, Mariah Carey (who single handedly ruled the 90s) returned to a less than perfect new song "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" which flopped worldwide. Almost a year later, Mariah Carey returned with "#Beautiful" which was a major turn around (not as big as desired) and later peaked at #14 on both the CDS Music Chart Hot 50 and the Billboard Hot 100. Now she is back with her second official single "The Art of Letting Go". The song clearly pays homage to her string of largely popular 90s hits. It works beautifully in a very soft and gentle way. It is fresh yet a clear throwback. It is also nice to see Mariah alone on the track after a long wave of rappers hit her tracks and somewhat ruined them. The new old Mariah is back with another hit! You can listen to "The Art of Letting Go" below.
Samantha Jade "Soldier"/"Firestarter"
While her previous single "Firestarter" didn't come close to charting on CDS Music Chart until just recently (debuting this week likely), her next single "Soldier" sounds like a powerful banger based on a small snippet, but won't debut this week (releasing on 11/15/13). Still you should check her out! She recently won the The X Factor (Australia). You can listen to "Firestarter" below.
Little Mix "Move"
Little Mix is back with an addicting new single called "Move". It is a sleek, and smooth pop production that is a departure from their previous singles. It is the second song released by them that I actually like quite a bit. It's a great lead single from their upcoming album. You can listen to "Move" below.
Céline Dion's "Loved Me Back to Life"
Canada's Céline Dion is back with her latest studio set "Loved Me Back to Life". It produced the #13 peaking "Loved Me Back to Life" on the CDS Music Chart Top 50. It contains lots of noteworthy songs and has pretty deep lyrical content. It is easily on the upper part of Céline's album scale. It is an edgy return that is completely satisfying and worth the purchase. It is a 'soulful return' that is very memorable and will likely be a must purchase for a few more months. A classic. You can listen to the title track below.
Lady Gaga's "ARTPOP"
By now most of you have already seen my "ARTPOP" review (if you haven't, view it here!). I'm not just trying to be nice or whatever. The album really deserves a 9 out of 10. It is easily one of the best albums I have ever heard because it flows and seems like a really thought out return. You can buy "ARTPOP" on iTunes by clicking here. You can listen to "Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly)" and "Applause" below.
Avril Lavigne's "Avril Lavigne"
Avril Lavigne's new album has lots of hits and lots of misses. Mainly hits though. "Rock N Roll" and "Here's To Never Growing Up" hit the top 2 on CDS Music Chart this year and are among the year's biggest hits. The new album is long overdue and is worth the wait. Read the album review here! Listen to "Rock N Roll" and "Here's To Never Growing Up" below.
That's it for this week's edition! See you next time!
