Despite the fact that two new tracks launch into the top 10 this week, Sanna Nielsen's Eurovison entry, "Undo", manages to hold at the summit for a second straight frame. That matches the two week stay of Emmelie De Forest's "Only Teardrops" (a Eurovision entry from 2013) at the top of the chart. Despite a large amount of competition during this week's frame, "Undo" jumps 10 points in airplay to a massive 129 (+8.40%), which ranks 4th all time, 2nd for a non-opening week total and 1st place for a track not sung by Lady Gaga. With the hold at #1, "Undo" surpasses Kiesza's "Hideaway" in terms of overall points in the 2014 Summer Songs competition. As of the third week of summer tracking, "Undo" currently leads the season off with 149 points (Kiesza's "Hideaway" shifts to 148 points, dropping from a 1st place tie to the second place position.

Kiesza's "Hideaway" holds in the runner up slot for a second consecutive week after spending 6 straight weeks at #1. Still, Kiesza holds the second longest running #1 debut (behind the 11 non-consecutive week run of "Applause") as well as the only song to rack 100 points or more for 8 weeks, further extending its record lead (it surpassed "Do What U Want" after its third week past 100). As the track racks up 121 plays (up 14; +13.08%), "Hideaway" barely holds the #2 slot, facing extremely tough competition from the debut of Maroon 5's "Maps". Unfortunately, the track has a slim chance at rebounding to #1 sometime in the near future. Currently, "Hideaway" is ranked as the #2 song of the summer (ending its #1 tie with Sanna Nielsen's "Undo") as the annual competition enters its third week.
Maroon 5's "Maps" (lead single from their forthcoming album V) debuts at #3 with a massive first week point total of 118. That trumps the 115 point debut of the group's 4 week #1 "Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa)" (which led off their last studio album), yet it falls short of the placement of the song ("Payphone" managed to debut in the #1 position). Fortunately, "Maps", though not beating the first week placement of "Payphone", equals the #3 debut of eventual #1 hit "Love Somebody" and beat the #10 debut of eventual #1 single "One More Night" significantly. With the debut, the track becomes Maroon 5's 8th consecutive top 10 single. To date, they are the only artist, band or duo to tally that many consecutive hits (though Rihanna . Their previous 7 tops are as follows: the #1 peaking "Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa)", the #1 peaking "One More Night", the #1 peaking "Love Somebody", the #3 peaking "Lucky Strike", the #5 peaking "Doin' Dirt", the #5 peaking "Daylight" and the #5 peaking "Moves Like Jagger (feat. Christina Aguilera)".
Clean Bandit's "Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne)" elevates 7-4, hitting a new peak in its 19th week on the chart. It previously tallied two weeks at #9 toward the start of its run and a total of five non-consecutive weeks at #10 (a record tying total). Katy Perry's "Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)" first strung together 5 non-consecutive weeks at #10 between December 2013 and February 2014. Given the track's impressively strong track record (and massive increase this week), "Rather Be" will likely close past 900 points (it passes 740 points this week).
Shakira's "Dare (La La La)" zooms 10-5 to become the Colombian singer's 3rd straight top 5 single. The track moves courtesy of nice boost from ads during the 2014 FIFA World Cup games in Brazil, which have been the main source of its 17 point boost from last week's total, as well as its strong strides on the Voter's Top 90. The track crowns the Voter's list, moving from the runner up slot to the summit (2-1). The track follows the #1 peaking "Empire" and the #3 peaking "Can't Remember to Forget You (feat. Rihanna).
Iggy Azalea's "Fancy (feat. Charli XCX)" drops 4-6, despite pushing past 100 plays for the second time (107; +8.08%). Additionally, it makes noticeable strides Radio, and Streaming components. It leads Hip-Hop/Rap Songs for a 7th straight week, and jumps 17-8 on the Voter's Top 90 (marking its 5th top 10 appearance on the latter chart). It should be on pace for an 8th week at #1 on Hip-Hop/Rap Songs, given the fact that its biggest competitor (Nicki Minaj's "Pills N Potions") dives 6-11 this week.
Vita Chambers returns to the CDS Music Chart Hot 50's top 10 for the first time since the fall of 2013 (when "What If?" debuted at #7 and eventually reached #3) as "A+D" elevates 9-7. With the move into the top 10 (last week), Vita Chambers reclaims her title as the first solo artist to reach the top 10 with all charting singles (multiple); "A+D" marks her 4th top 10 hit. Only one other act (Maroon 5) has reached the top 10 with all charting singles, tallying 8 within the region across 2012, 2013 and 2014. While "A+D" was the only Vita Chambers song to not debut within the top 10, the track has made up for it and become the young Canadian artist's 4th straight top 10 hit (as previously announced) following "Fix You", "Masquerade" and "What If?" which debuted at numbers 10, 9 and 7 before peaking at numbers 1, 2 and 3.
Starting off with a phenomenal 100 points even, Kiesza's "Giant In My Heart" opens at #8, pretty close to the 115 point #1 debut of her previously released smash, "Hideaway". My initial predictions had "Giant" pegged for a massive #3 opening, however this extremely competitive week crushed this track's hopes of opening within the top 5. My initial forecast said that the track would open with around 104 first week points, given its 100 point debut, it wasn't off by too much.
Coldplay's "A Sky Full of Stars" crashes 3-9 after tallying 6 straight weeks within the top 3. Coincidentally, those 6 weeks were evenly split: the track spent 3 straight frames and #2 (all behind Kiesza's "Hideaway") as well as the next 3 consecutive frames at #2 (behind Sanna Nielsen's "Undo" and Kiesza's "Hideaway" in all 3 cases. Unfortunately, "A Sky Full of Stars" will likely drop off fairly quickly ("Magic" folds 8-15 this week) and could close south of 700 points (though that would be a shame). At this point in its chart run, it's highly unlikely the track will ever return to the CDS Music Chart top 3 (let alone top 5).
Following
the massive success of their two week #1 single, "Counting Stars",
OneRepublic had to step up their came to harness a hit of the same
magnitude. Luckily, they came across the long shelved/unfinished "Love
Runs Out". After fixing up the chorus and several stand out lines, "Love
Runs Out" was born. OneRepublic's attempt at servicing radio and the
public with a worthy new jam succeeded. "Runs", despite dropping a noticeable 5 positions (5-10), tallies an 8th week within the top 10. Unfortunately, it will be lucky to scrape away with a fragment of its 1500+ point scoring predecessor ("Counting Stars").
