Oceana's "Everybody" Lights Up Radio

Who doesn't enjoy some cool beach fun? No one. That's how the recently dropped "Everybody" by German singer Oceana lit up the Radio component chart that feeds directly into CDS Music Chart's Hot 50. On the final day of tracking for the recently completed week, Oceana's Brazilian themed "Everybody" rung up some pretty impressive numbers though it had only been on the platform for several hours. Finishing at #27 on the weekly Radio list, "Everybody" opens at #36 on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50 after mixing in votes and official airplay from real radio stations.

As it turns out, #36 isn't the largest entry for a song after being released for 1 day (that title belong's to Katy Perry's "Roar"), but "Everybody" does beat out Lady Gaga's "Venus" for the largest opening within a 6 hour timeframe. Why's this? "Venus" debuted as a snippet (an official track in a small portion form), causing it to be less favorable among the tracks of the week. Still it managed to creep in at #42, 41 poisons off from "Do What U Want" which opened at #1 during the same frame, becoming Gaga's 2nd consecutive #1 opener.

As Oceana charges onto Radio one week before the start of the summer charts season, it's easy to figure out that Kiesza might have some stuff competition by the time "Everybody" comes to a full sizzle.

So how far will "Everybody" travel this upcoming week? It's hard to tell for sure but the positive reception from both fans and first time listers of Oceana have both been clearly voiced. That suggests it will perform moderately on the Voter's ever expanding ballot of tracks. I'm expecting it to at least reach the Radio too 20 by the end of the upcoming week, with the top 15 in reach. On the official Hot 50, anything could happen.
