Welcome back to the CDS Music Top 100 of 2013 rundown! This is part 6 and covers #50 to #41. Six back, relax and enjoy!
50. "C'mon" by Ke$ha
Peak: 7
Weeks On: 24
Points: 524
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 50
Certification: Gold
Last Year (2012): 85 (+35)
After "Die Young", Ke$ha returned with "C'mon" which peaked at #7. It didn't preform well in the United States, which ultimately affected its ranking overall (though it did pass 750 points overall). To date it has become her best preforming song to date, surpassing "Die Young" by just over 20 points.
49. "Royals" by Lorde
Peak: 8
Weeks On: 20
Points: 531
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 99
Certification: Gold
Lorde was one of 2013's biggest newcomers. Her single "Royals" reached the lower part of the top 10 and has spent 20 weeks on the chart (so far). The only reason as to why it didn't go higher on the list is because US radio over promoted it in the later half of 2013.
48. "Sexxx Dreams" by Lady Gaga
Peak: 8
Weeks On: 16
Points: 541
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 97
Certification: Gold
Following SwineFest (the 2013 iTunes Festival), "Sexxx Dreams" opened at #8. While that was much lower than expected (a top 5 debut was pegged), the song ultimately passed 500 points and will likely end with a strong 800+ points.
47. "Glorious" by Cascada
Peak: 6
Weeks On: 16
Points: 543
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 96
Certification: Gold
As the 2013 Eurovision entry for Germany, "Glorious" had a lot riding on its shoulders. To be honest, it was one of this year's best Eurovision entries but vacated the list after a short 4 months. According to the standings, it ranked within the middle of the pack of the 32 entries in the yearly competition.
46. "Radioactive" by Rita Ora
Peak: 8
Weeks On: 24
Points: 569
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 58
Certification: Gold
Last Year (2012): 100 (+54)
The first 'Radioactive' song on the list is by UK female artist Rita Ora. It became her highest charting single and biggest point collector in her short discography. After rounding out last year's top 100, the song bounded 54 positions for a year end ranking of #46.
45. "Acapella" by Karmin
Peak: 5
Weeks On: 19
Points: 570
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 93
Certification: Gold
Karmin's 3rd charting song became their biggest single to date. "Acapella" (though spelled wrong) is a pop masterpiece that is minimal but gets the job done. It is done with almost no instrumental and the production is very twisted and unique. I hope Karmin can whip out some more hits like so this on their new album on Pulses (due in Spring 2014).
44. "Wake Me Up (feat. Aloe Blacc)" by Avicii
Peak: 6
Weeks On: 19
Points: 571
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 91
Certification: Gold
Originally, I heavily disliked this song (therefore it didn't chart at first). It started to grow on me and well here it is on my year end list. The thumping harmonica and the vocals provided by newcomer Aloe Blacc are fresh and welcoming. Avicii will likely reach the top 50 again in 2014 with "You Make Me" and "Hey Brother".
43. "Live For the Night" by Krewella
Peak: 13
Weeks On: 26
Points: 597
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 85
Certification: Gold
In one of the strangest cases I have had on my chart, Krewella's "Live For the Night" has reached a #13 peak position and has been listed for 26 weeks. It is currently ranking at #13 (its peak) and if it ends up reaching the top 10, it will have completed the longest journey for a song into the top 10.
42. "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons
Peak: 6
Weeks On: 23
Points: 599
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 84
Certification: Gold
Imagine Dragons (a mix up of a TRUE name only known officially by the members) started off with "It's Time" in the lower region of the top 50 but quickly released "Radioactive" as the next single from their debut album. It preformed much better than the previous single and eventually reached a peak position of #6.
41. "American Girl" by Bonnie McKee
Peak: 11
Weeks On: 25
Points: 600
2012-2013/All Time Rank: 83
Certification: Gold
It's a bittersweet position for Bonnie McKee. With her first single, she manages to rank #41 for the year (just right outside the prestigious top 40) and was one of over a dozen singles to barely miss the top 10. Her second single didn't reach the top 50.
Come back for part 7!
