Yes it has been nearly 2 years since Ayah Marar debuted her 1st ever single "Mind Controller". Although it has been almost 2 years, this doesn't violate the policy in which songs over 2 years old can't debut. Also, keep in mind that I didn't know much about Ayah until June 2013, one month before her songs from her first album,
The Real, debuted on the United States version of iTunes in mind July. In mind August, Ayah scored her 1st #1 single, "Thinking About You", alongside frequent collaborator Calvin Harris. "Mind Controller" debuted near the tail end of 2013 as a result, and spent 8 weeks on the chart ultimately peaking at #27 for a single week. Just this past week, I came in contact with a physical version of Ayah's album for the 1st time. I had been looking everywhere and I instantly purchased it.
This week, Ayah's "Mind Controller" is benefiting from this. With 56 spins picked up through 4 days (~14 per day), "Mind Controller" is likely to reach the top 10 by the end of the tracking week. It could possibly even have the greatest comeback this chart has ever seen. Tulisa previously powered back onto the chart at #8 with "Young" a while back.
