In this new weekly feature titled "The LOOK", I will feature data about the positioning of hot/upcoming songs reflecting the first 4 days of the weekly airplay tracker (Saturday - Wednesday). To keep things more interesting, I will not feature any information about songs that charted in the top 10 during the previous week. The only way that a song in the top 10 could be featured is if it jumps into the top 10 from a rank of at least 5 position lower during the previous week.
For example:
#15-#10 (Covered)
#14-10 (Not Covered)
#14-9 (Covered)
etc.
Anyway lets kick off the first ever edition of "The LOOK"!
Karmin returns to the top 50 with third charting song "Acapella". After many weeks of going back and forth on whether or not this song would make my list, I decided that it would and is within reach of a top 40 launch.
Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake team up for an amazing rap/sung collaboration on Z's newest single "Holy Grail". Despite lots of exposure and public popularity, the song might only start at No. 48, the average position it has ranked for days 1-4. Due to the fact that these days compile on top of each other, the song isn't necessarily slowing down in airplay, it just isn't gaining quite enough to pull off a better slot.
Macklemore's "Wing$" should also have a soft opening around No. 45.
Nikki Williams is set to have a big turn around this week with the No. 11 peaking "Glowing". After descending 35-37 this past week, the song could skyrocket into the top 30 again. Will this be enough of a push to send it back up closer to its peak?
Ellie Goulding's two new singles "Burn" and "You, My Everything" are also set for a hefty increase in airplay and positioning.
And in the biggest surprise of the week, Avril Lavigne's new single "Rock N Roll" should pull off a top 15 debut. Despite a noticeably smaller open than Avril's "Here's to Never Growing Up" (opened at #1), top 20 opens have become a rare thing.
