Vote For Your Favorites of the Week (Week 19)!

Hot New Track This Week:

"X"
Chris Brown
From the forthcoming album, X
Release: August 25th

Thoughts: Chris Brown has had some chart success on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50 with singles from his forthcoming 6th studio album, X, but none of them have really broken out. Out of the 5 perviously released singles from the album, 4 of them have reached the Hot 50. Out of those 4, only one has reached the top 20 ("Fine China"). The other 3 ("Love More", "Loyal" and "New Flame") each peaked between #40-50 and spent about 4 weeks on the chart. Will "X" follow the pattern of "Fine China", the pattern of "New Flame", or will it miss inclusion on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50 all together?  We'll see soon enough.

Now you be the judge. Does "X" have what it takes to debut on the Hot 50? If yes, vote it up, if no, vote down.

Last Week's Outcome: Eminem's "Guts Over Fear (feat. Sia)" debuted within the top 20 on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50.

New Entries:
- "X" by Chris Brown
- "If You Let Me Go" by Salt Ashes
- "Yours" by Ella Henderson

Note: The final positions of the songs at the end of the week is equivalent to the Social Songs 100 chart. This is only accounts for approximately 1/3 of all points entered into the Hot 50 weekly issue.

Hey guys! There have been some concerns and questions on voting for your favorite tracks every week. To make things a whole lot easier, you can now vote songs up and down the list. At the end of the week, the points will be calculated and the ranker will be reset for the next week! All votes count! Don't see your favorite song? Feel free to leave a comment and I will add it! I will be updating the ranker from time to time as new tracks become available!

Welcome to the 19th week of voting! Your votes help determine the top songs on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50. Please note that only the top 10 most approved tracks will receive bonus points toward their scores on the upcoming chart. Make sure you share this to get your favorite tracks into the top 10. If this gets 250 voters and/or 5,000 votes by the end of Friday, each track in the top 10 will get 2x the regular votes and #11-20 on the list will get the score that the top 10 usually gets.

Forecast: Usher Headed For Major Strides, Top 5 Remain Stable

New Entries & High Climbers
After adding two new entries last week (for a total of 4 since 2012), Usher's latest release, "She Came To Give It To You (feat. Nicki Minaj)" is set to be the top debut on this week's chart. Currently ranked at #14 on the building chart through this week's halfway mark, it's entirely possible that the track barely winds up within the top 20 when the week concludes, but an estimate around #25 to #30 would be a lot more reasonable. It's currently burning up in streaming and voting points, but US radio airplay has been nearly nonexistent at this point. Given that, I'm guessing only a handful of points will be derived from radio plays, which could cause it to open softer than expected. As I said earlier, a final week position between 25-30 would be a solid start and a win for Usher (who has had only one top 10 hit since 2012). It's guaranteed to be Nicki's 20th chart entry, further upping her lead as the artist with the most Hot 50 chart entries. Rihanna ranks in 2nd place with 18.

Usher's other tracks that will hold on the chart from last week (the Disclosure remix of "Good Kisser" and Chris Brown's "New Flame", which features Usher and Rick Ross) should also be able to muster up some decent business. "Good Kisser (Remix)", likely be the stronger of the two, ranks at #26 at the midweek stage. Despite a huge growth (it ranked at #46 when the final numbers came in last week), it has dropped off several positions from the start of the week (it at one point ranked at #20), so it's likely to drop more. It will likely wind up below "She Came To Give It To You (feat. Nicki Minaj)" this week, with a final rank between #35 to #40 being a good estimate.

Chris Brown's "New Flame" has had some trouble ranking up points this week (being snubbed by radio and other platforms), but could muster a several position increase at best. It's currently ranked at #40, but has held that position throughout the entire week so far. That leads me to believe it will hold strong through the week's end, with a final position just above or just below #40 likely.

T.I.'s "No Mediocre (feat. Iggy Azalea)" (which started off at a strong rank of #38 last week) is currently ranked at #11 through the midway stage, which is a huge lift of 27 positions. While it might wind up within the top 20, it's unlikely to reach the top 10... we'll see.

Tinashe's "2 On (feat. SchoolBoy Q)" is ranked at #21 at the midweek stage (it reached as high as #19  earlier this week), so I'm guessing it'll wind up with a 4 to 5 position gain from last week. More news soon.

Tracks Likely To Exit
- "Ultraviolence" by Lana Del Rey
- "Bloodstream" by Ed Sheeran

Top 5 Happenings
Maroon 5 is set to claim a second frame at #1, with Kiesza likely to reach the #2 for a fifth week with "Hideaway". That would put her in the top 2 for 11 weeks, the longest run in the region since OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" commanded the region for 13 straight weeks earlier this year. That song later went on to become the most successful single in my chart's history and is on its way to #1 for the end of 2014. Kiesza's other single ("Giant In My Heart") could snag the #3 position; Sanna Nielsen's former 3 week #1 "Undo" could ease 3-4 and Clean Bandit's "Rather Be" could drop 4-5 after peaking at #4 for 3 frames.

Come back for more news!

Chart Highlights: Maroon 5 Barely Summits, Tinashe Claims Top Debut

After two weeks of charting, Maroon 5's "Maps" crowns the chart with a 3-1 lift in its third week on the chart. The track soars to the top of the 50 position, all format chart with 135 points, a 10 point uptick from last week's 125 point total. That ties Lady Gaga's "Venus" as the track with the second largest point frame in a non debut week; both currently rank behind Sanna Nielsen's "Undo" (137 on the chart dated July 3rd).With the move, the track abruptly cuts off the #1 run of Sanna Nielsen's "Undo" which wrapped a 3 week run at the top. While "Undo" is now stuck in a multiple way tie for shortest time at #1 in 2014, the track still manages the most solid run of any Eurovision track. Previously, Loreen's "Euphoria" (from the 2012 edition of the competition) also managed a 3 week stint in first place, though it ranked lower in terms of points in all three weeks when compared to "Undo".

Back to "Maps", the track becomes Maroon 5's 4th non-conseutive #1 single. The track follows "Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa)", "One More Night" and "Love Somebody" as the group's 4th #1 effort. To date (including this frame), the group has notched a cumulative total of 7 weeks at #1 since 2012. In an interesting twist, "Maps" was initially forecasted to land in 2nd or 3rd place on this week's chart behind Kiesza's "Hideaway" and Sanna Nielsen's "Undo". Surprisingly, "Maps" pulled ahead on the final day of tracking (July 4th) and completed the week barely on top of the list.

Maroon 5's previous 7 top 5 hits are as follows: the #1 peaking "Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa)", the #1 peaking "One More Night", the #1 peaking "Love Somebody", the #3 peaking "Lucky Strike", the #5 peaking "Doin' Dirt", the #5 peaking "Daylight" and the #5 peaking "Moves Like Jagger (feat. Christina Aguilera)".

*Frame points help determine a song's position (more equals higher position; can be infinitely high), while chart points are awarded based on ranking. The #1 track gets 50 chart points even if it needed 120 frame points to get there. In other words, frame points aren't worth anything except distinguishing rank, and there is no bonus to scoring more other than recognition.

Here's a list of songs that have wound up past 100 plays. If a track had multiple weeks over 100, greatest value only is listed .NOTE: This is the second week in history to have all tracks in the top 10 tally final point scores above 101.

Kiesza's "Hideaway" added 2 points for a frame totaling 131 points, a mere 4 points off of the #1 position. To date, the track has tallied 6 consecutive weeks at #1 and another 4 consecutive consecutive frames at #2. Despite the fact that "Hideaway" didn't scoop a 7th week at #1 (like it was predicted to), Kiesza still holds the second longest running #1 debut (behind the 11 non-consecutive week run of "Applause") as well as the only song to rack 100 points or more for 10 weeks, further extending its record lead (it surpassed "Do What U Want" after its third week past 100) though that's not saying much given that every track in the top 10 wound up past 100 points. For the third straight week, Kiesza barely lands in the #2 position, facing strong competition from Maroon 5's "Maps" (which elevates to #1 this week). Currently, "Hideaway" is ranked as the #2 song of the summer as the annual competition enters its fifth week.

Sanna Nielsen's "Undo" drops from the CDS Music Chart Hot 50's summit after reigning for a 3rd consecutive frame, which tied Loreen's "Euphoria" as the longest reigning #1 hit from any edition of the Eurovision Song Contest (coincidentally, both female artists represented Sweden in the annual competition). This week, "Undo" slides to 127 points alongside a 1-3 drop on the chart. Though it no longer ranks at #1, "Undo"still holds its lead over Kiesza's "Hideaway" in terms of overall points in the 2014 Summer Songs competition. As of the fifth week of summer tracking, "Undo" currently leads the season off with 247 points (Kiesza's "Hideaway" shifts to 246 points, with the gap being only a single point wide).

Clean Bandit's "Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne)" holds at its #4 peak for a third consecutive week in its 21st week on the chart. It previously tallied two weeks at #9 toward the start of its run and a total of five non-consecutive weeks at #10 (a record tying total). Katy Perry's "Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)" first strung together 5 non-consecutive weeks at #10 between December 2013 and February 2014. Given the track's impressively strong track record (and massive increase this week), "Rather Be" will likely close past 1000 chart points (it passes 830 points this week), which would rank as one of the year's biggest hits.

Kiesza's "Giant In My Heart" lifts 7-5 to round out the top 5. In the process, the track become's the Canadian singer's 2nd top 5 following "Hideaway" which debuted and peaked at #1 (holding for a 2014 record long 6 weeks). Aiding the track's growth this week? The release of the official music video which received extremely positive reception among critics and fans. With the release of its parent album, the Hideaway EP, on the third day of the upcoming frame, "Giant In My Heart" could wind up in first place next week to become the singer's second consecutive #1 single. Additionally, "So Deep" (another track on the EP) is set to make a modest yet lofty start on next week's Hot 50. Additional details and forecasts coming soon.

Iggy Azalea's "Fancy (feat. Charli XCX)" holds at #6 for a 3rd frame (5th overall), despite pushing past 100 frame points for the third time (117; +2%). Additionally, it makes noticeable strides on Radio and Streaming components. It leads Hip-Hop/Rap Songs for a 9th straight week, and jumps to #3 (+5) on the Voter's Top 100 (marking its 7th top 10 appearance on the latter chart). It should be on pace for an 10th week at #1 on Hip-Hop/Rap Songs, given the fact that its biggest competitor (Nicki Minaj's "Pills N Potions") holds tight at #15 this week.

Vita Chamber's 4th consecutive top 10 single, "A+D", rebounds 8-7 on this week's chart. With this frame, it spends a third week past 100 points and a 4th overall week in the top 10. It should hold up well throughout the rest of July (mainly because the track's official video counterpart debuts on July 7th). While "A+D" was the only Vita Chambers song to not debut within the top 10, the track has made up for it and become the young Canadian artist's 4th straight top 10 hit (as previously announced) following "Fix You", "Masquerade" and "What If?" which debuted at numbers 10, 9 and 7 before peaking at numbers 1, 2 and 3.

Nico & Vinz leap 10-8 with their debut hit single "Am I Wrong". This week, the track jumps to 112 spins, which ranks in 13th place for most points earned in a single frame. That's nothing to boast about, but "Am I Wrong" has a chance at getting close to a record before its run is over. To date, the track has yet to slip any positions or hold at the same position for a second week (all of its chart movements have been upwards). Additionally, all movements have been somewhat drastic and large. Last week it moved up 11 spaces, and in the previous it moved up 7.

Shakira's "Dare (La La La)" drops 5-9, the biggest crash in the top 10 this week. It previously spent two frames at its peak position of #5, and with this week totals a 4th week in the top 10. While the track successfully became Shakira's 3rd consecutive top 5 single, it's highly likely that this track caps off with a total cume lower than both that of "Empire" (769 points through July 3rd; 8th place year to date) and "Can't Remember to Forget You (feat. Rihanna)" (752 points through entire run; 9th place year to date). That's unfortunate, but it is what it is. More details and predictions next week.

Ariana Grande's "Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea)" slides off 9-10 while racking up exactly 105 points for the second time in a row. With the track's move into the top 10 last week, Ariana net her second straight top 10 single (after 2013's "The Way") and Iggy Azalea scooped her second straight top 10 single (after her #4 peaking "Fancy"). Additionally, Ariana equaled her highest peak (#9), which first came when 2013's "The Way (feat. Mac Miller)" reached #9 back in a nearly identical week. Unfortunately, "Problem" will likely not reach any higher on the chart. I'm expecting it to drop out of the top 10 next week.

Below the top 10, Tinashe's "2 On (feat. SchoolBoy Q)" begins at #31 (higher than the #37 debut that was previously reported) to claim the largest debut of the week. Other tracks to enter this week include the following: "My Love (feat. Jess Glynne)" by Route 94, "No Mediocre (feat. Iggy Azalea)" by T.I.", "New Flame (feat. Usher & Rick Ross)" by Chris Brown, "Good Kisser (Disclosure Remix)" by Usher x Disclosure, and "F For You (feat. Mary J Blige)" by Disclosure.

Unfortunately, nearly all of those tracks wound up with starts between 41-50, putting them in jeopardy of charting next week. Strong debuts next week should come from Kiesza's "So Deep", Ariana Grande's "Break Free (feat. Zedd)", David Guetta's "Lover's On the Sun (feat. Sam Martin)" and several tracks from Sia's forthcoming 1000 Forms of Fear album (due out July 8th in the US).

CDS 4th Of July Party Playlist (Part 2)

Thousands upon thousands of parties will be sweeping the United States tomorrow, as the country celebrates its 238th anniversary. July 4th marks the day that the United States declared their independence from Great Britain at the end of the Revolutionary War. In honor of the celebration, CDS Music Chart is offering a handmade playlist to help kick start your party. Instead of writing about each track, I've decided to include stats for each track on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50 (if they haven't yet reached the Hot 50, I'll occasionally include a short description). Here's to a giant celebration!

This is Part 2 of a 2 part post! A special dance ONLY part 3 is coming soon as well. Happy 4th of July!

"New Flame (feat. Usher & Rick Ross)" - Chris Brown
CDS Music Chart Hot 50 Peak: TBA

After spending several months in prison, Chris Brown returned to the music world at the 2014 BET Awards at the end of June. After performing his most recent hit single ("Loyal"), he premiered a brand new track on iTunes. "New Flame" is an excellent track that combines a slew of genres into one spicy composition. It also features Usher (who did the best job on the track) and Rick Ross, who throws in some rhymes to wrap up and finish off the track. It's quite spectacular (and new), so its a good thing to have on you playlist. The track is set to bow on the CDS Music Chart Hot 50 issue dated July 10th (information and highlights are on the way).

"Something Bad" - Miranda Lambert & Carrie Underwood
CDS Music Chart Hot 50 Peak: #53(x2)

Though it didn't quite crack the CDS Music Chart Hot 50, "Something Bad" (which was released as the second single from Lambert's Platinum) did manage to chart at #53 (equivalent to #3 on the extended chart) for two weeks back in May 2014. While it likely won't ever reach the main list, it's a great, dark party track that feels perfect for 4th of July. Make sure you give it a spin or two  during this holiday! Don't forget to watch this year's annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on NBC tonight at 8/7c! Miranda will be performing live.

"Good Kisser (Disclosure Remix)" - Usher
CDS Music Chart Hot 50 Peak: TBA

I initially overlooked Usher's original release of "Good Kisser", mainly because I thought it sounded terrible and way worse than anything he had released in 2012 (when his album Looking 4 Myself) first dropped. Thanks to the world class DJ brothers that form Disclosure (a sick production team), "Good Kisser" is filled with more life, more dance and it sounds a whole lot better. Make sure you include this new track (which was just debuted last night) to your 4th of July playlist!
