Daughtry Drops Weak "Utopia" to Complement Television Series

Utopia, a year long social experiment, airs as new reality series starting tonight at 8/7c on FOX.

America continues to amaze me. As if we didn't have enough competition reality shows already, the FOX Network will premiere a brand new, Survivor inspired "experiment" titled Utopia tonight at 8/7c (running until 10/9c). Following the Sunday night premiere, the show will permanently move to Tuesday and Friday, airing for a single hour on each night (instead of a two hour block), for presumably the rest of the season (which will conclude in September of next year).

The interesting thing about Utopia, is that the series lasts a full year with several contestants being swapped in and out of the game as voted by viewers at home. It's currently not clear if the series will end with a winner. Though the whole idea sounds somewhat odd, the main reason I'm covering this is because of the new music Daughtry has recorded for the series.

"Utopia" is a cover of a song originally recorded by a Dutch artist for the Dutch version of the television series. Not only is is one of the group's weakest efforts in quite a while in possibly ever, "Utopia" is just one of the most dull and lifeless covers I've heard... ever.

Let me know what you think of both "Utopia" the song, and Utopia the TV Show. Will you be watching the premiere? Follow Utopia on Twitter for updates about the show.
