"Frozen" Dominates Oscars; What's Next?

Disney's animated sensation, "Frozen", marched past $1 Billion worldwide this weekend, which just so happened to be Oscar Weekend. Following in the style of the movie's huge success, music from the release has exploded in popularity in North America. The official soundtrack album has crossed past 1 million sales in the United States alone and the main theme to the flick, "Let It Go", has reached #18 in the United States so far.

More impressive is how much its 2014 Oscar wins for "Best Animated Feature" and "Best Original Song" ("Let It Go"), are helping it after coming off a cooling streak. A single day after the wins (Monday), the movie jumped 49% in sales from the previous Monday. Similarly, "Let It Go" ranked #5 on iTunes by the end of Monday and currently sits at #2. As of Monday's numbers, the song is forecast to sell 127,000 additional copies but it's possible it might reach as high as 190,000 when the sales week ends this Sunday.

Confusingly, "Happy" by Pharrell Williams from competitor animated movie "Despicable Me 2" lost out for "Best Original Song" but is forecasted to sell upwards of 425,000 copies (over 125% difference).

So what's next for Disney and the stars of "Frozen"?

After its huge success, the stars will focus on other projects and could eventually reunite for "Frozen 2".

Do you think there will be a "Frozen 2"?
