Hits That Didn't Make The Top; A List For Our 2nd Year

To date, 25 different songs have reached the Hot 50 summit, including our most recent leaders Vita Chambers, and Macklemore. Of course everyone remembers these songs, but what about those songs that didn't quite have enough edge to take #1?

Here is a list of the 8 different singles that have peaked at #2, ranked in order based on their overall chart success.

This list is our way of kicking off our 2nd year!

8. "I Love It (feat. Charli XCX)" by Icona Pop
Peak: 2(x2)
Weeks On: 6
Year: 2013

Although it could be considered "unfair" to count this newbie single, it is still a part of our rich chart history. In fact, this single could become the 26th #1 after current champ "Thrift Shop (feat. Wanz).

7. "The One That Got Away" by Katy Perry
Peak: 2(x1)
Weeks On: 12
Year: 2012

This instant pop classic was barred for the #1 position by Rihanna's mega champ "We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris)" at the end of 2011, and start of 2012. If 2011's charts were included, this single would be a lot higher on our countdown.

6. "Good Feeling" by Flo Rida
Peak: 2(x1)
Weeks On: 15
Year: 2012

Debuting at #3 during the second week of 2012, this single was a quick acting single and peaked at #2 in its second week. Just like the previous single, it would have also been a lot higher if 2011's charts were included.

5. "There She Goes (feat. Pitbull)" by Taio Cruz
Peak: 2(x2)
Weeks On: 20
Year: 2012

After debuting at #16 on April 26th, 2012, this single became an instant hit and immediately launched into the top 10 at #2 the following week. Despite having a good start, the single began to flop and only spent one month in the top 10.

4. "Don't Wake Me Up" by Chris Brown
Peak: 2(x1)
Weeks On: 23
Year: 2012

This song also had a monster start, but when arguments started arising over David Guetta's "supposed" appearance, it started to slip. When all of this was cleared up again, it took flight and spent a single week at #2 behind Loreen.

3. "Good Time" by Carly Rae Jepsen & Owl City
Peak: 2(x2)
Weeks On: 21
Year: 2012

Debuting at #4, this sweet like candy summer anthem had its eyes on #1 from the start. Unfortunately for the duo behind this master piece, it didn't quite make it. It was barred from the top by Havana Brown's #1 single. It also was jacked again, when it took the title of #11 song of 2012 barely being beat  out by David Guetta's "Titanium (feat. Sia)".

2."Good Girl" by Carrie Underwood
Peak: 2(x1)
Weeks On: 24
Year: 2012

This single out performed any country song for 2012, and spent most of its time inside the top 20 of the chart. It spent a single week at #2 behind Train's "Drive By" in May 2012. Originally ranking at #13 on the 2012 Year End List, this single benefited from our new method of point distribution (implanted in early 2013), and ultimately beat out  the previous song.

After spending 8 consecutive weeks in the runner up position, "Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch)" would have taken the crown for biggest #2 single, but eventually reached the summit for two weeks. This blocked the single from title of "Biggest #2 Song", and therefore that title goes to....

1."Finally Found You (feat. Sammy Adams)" by Enrique Iglesais
Peak: 2(x1)
Weeks On: 26
Year: 2012-2013

After debuting at #3, this single reached #2 in its second week, and remained in the top 10 for the next 9 additional weeks. Finally departing the Hot 50 3 weeks ago, spent the most time on the list (of all #2 songs) and easily grabbed title for "Biggest #2 Song". Hopefully, Enrique can reach #1 with long awaited follow up single rumored to be titled "I'm a Freak".
