#1 Watch: As "Maps" Slows, "Undo" Likely To Hold At Summit

After weighing several sets of numbers through the database, it's become apparent that Maroon 5's "Maps" will not debut at #1, though its spin data is tracking higher than that of 2012's smash #1 debut "Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa)" (which opened to a whopping 116 points back in April). As the tally enters its final hours of awarding points, it has become increasingly clear that Sanna Nielsen's "Undo" will end this frame at #1, for a second straight week. Nielsen's "Undo" will not only take the summit, it will also set yet another record for the largest point week for any artist other than Lady Gaga and largest point week for any artist with their debut chart entry; it's currently on pace to end the week with over 125 points (which should rank it at #4 all time, #1 for a non Lady Gaga track).

Meanwhile, Kiesza's "Hideaway" will likely take the 2nd or 3rd place position with a strong weekly number that's highly likely to be greater than the track's 115 point start at #1 back in early May. Her latest track, "Giant In My Heart" was pegged to start around #3 (ahead of Maroon 5's "Maps") but will likely barely manage a top 10 debut. That's still going to be impressive, but not as amazing as the #1 opening of "Hideaway".

Forecast Update: Maroon 5 Takes First Place On Monday, Holds Well On Tuesday

Update: “Maps” again took first place on Tuesday, though its lead wasn’t nearly as significant as it was on Monday. “Maps” edged out “Undo” by 5 points. They earned 24(-27.27%) and 19(+5.55%) points respectively, a respectable hold for both (“Maps” in particular). If “Maps” can hold that lead, it could be on its way to a huge #1 debut of 142 points, which would rank 3rd all time. That may not actually happen (as it should taper off a bit), but at this point it doesn’t seem that farfetched. Keep you updated.

Initial Report: Though it was first forecasted to round off the week just past 100 points, Maroon 5’s “Maps” over performed on Monday, it’s debut day. The track easily dominated the competition with a massive 33 points earned on its premiere day, 15 points more than the distant second place song: Sanna Nielsen’s “Undo” (18). As most of you know, Nielsen’s “Undo” recently toppled Kiesza’s “Hideaway” to claim the No. 1 spot for the first time last week (rising 2-1). That’s a bit grim for “Undo” which could end up losing the No. 1 slot while gaining in points (last week it was at 119, one of the highest weekly totals already).

Meanwhile, Kiesza’s “Giant In My Heart” dove 2-6, tallying just 11 points on Monday. Its 3-day total stands at 41, which leads me to believe that it will not debut in the top 5 as initially expected. I have lowered my first week estimate from around 105 to 95, a noticeable cut that could potentially cost it a top 10 debut (worst case scenario).

For the First 3 Days of the Tracking Period (Saturday-Monday)
1.“Undo” by Sanna Nielsen (54)
2.“Hideaway” by Kiesza (46)
3.“Fancy (feat. Charli XCX)” by Iggy Azalea (42)
4.“Giant In My Heart” by Kiesza (41)
5.“A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay(40)
6.“Pills N Potions” (39)
7.“Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne)” by Clean Bandit (37)
8.“Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic(37)
9.“A+D” by Vita Chambers (36)
10.“Maps” by Maroon 5 (33)
