Chart Highlights: Ayah Marar Takes 'Control'

Katy Perry's "Unconditionally" bounds 3-1. This week it ties Katy Perry's "Roar" as the singer's 2nd highest peaking single after "Walking On Air" which peaked at #2. The single jumps to 95 spins, up sharply from last week's 86 points. Her singles "Hot N Cold", "California Gurls" and "Firework" would have all reached the top spot, but they were released before the chart's inception. Thus, "Unconditionally" becomes the seasoned performer's first ever #1 single.

OneRepublic holds at #2 with "Counting Stars" this week. It benefitted highly from a monstrous amount of plays it received on US radio (which is factored into my chart if I listen to more than half of the song when it is played on a station). I didn't ever skip the song on radio but listened to it less from my playlist which is why it doesn't rank #1. Prior to nailing a 3rd week at #2, the song ranked #5 for 3 straight weeks. It bounds to 94 (spins up 6). With this frame, the song tallies a 7th week in the top 5.

"The Monster (feat. Rihanna)" slides 1-3, from the penthouse after a fourth straight week at the summit. Before dropping off the top slot, Rihanna scored her 20th cumulative week at #1 while Eminem racked up his 4th.

Lady Gaga holds at #4 "Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly)". The song (which hit #1 for 6 weeks), is starting to suffer from not having an official video and is dropping faster than "Applause". To date it has spent 13 weeks in the top 5 and and records its lowest point scoring week in history. The official remix with Christina Aguilera could end up helping the song parallel the success of its predecessor.

Lady Gaga holds tight at #5 with "Applause". To date the song has spent 23 weeks in the top 5. With last week's frame, Lady Gaga set the record for "Most Weeks In the Top 5". Rihanna previously held the record with both "Diamonds" and "Where Have You Been" with 20 weeks.

Ayah Marar re-enters the chart at #6 with her 2nd charting single "Mind Controller". The song returns with an amazing 80 spins. This marks the largest return for any song in the history of the chart. More news as this re-entry continues to develop.

Mia Martina and Dev's "Danse" bumps 9-7. It bumps to 80 plays, up sharply from the 75 plays the song received last week. If it reaches the top 5, Mia Martina will land her 2nd consecutive top 5 single and Dev will get her 1st top 5 single.

Pitbull drops 6-8 with "Timber (feat. Ke$ha)" this week. It remains pretty much even in overall chart points compared to last week, but was pushed down by Ayah Marar this week. It has a chance at rebounding if the song continues to rise in overall plays on radio.

Shakira returns to CDS Music for the 1st time since 2012 and scores her 1st top 10 single as "Can't Remember to Forget You (feat. Rihanna)" blasts onto the chart at #9 as this week's Hot Shot Debut. On the other hand, Rihanna isn't new to the chart's upper crust and scores her 12th top 10 single in a short 2 year span.

To round out the chart's top 10, "Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)" slides 8-10. The single follows "The One That Got Away" and "Walking On Air" which peaked at #2, "Roar" which peaked at #3, "Wide Awake" which peaked at #5, "Part of Me" which peaked at #8 and most recently "Unconditionally" which has peaked at #3 thus far.

Come back for the chart!
